Shady Grove Fertility is proud to have the largest team of Reproductive Endocrinologists working together to serve patients. Each year, we celebrate National Doctor’s Day to recognize the efforts put forth by the physicians to help turn each patient’s dream of parenthood into a reality.

The Shady Grove Fertility team has grown in the last year, welcoming five new physicians.

Frederick, MD, Hagerstown, MD, and Harrisburg, PA

After spending a lot of time during my residency training here, I “came home” to Shady Grove Fertility and the Washington, DC area just over a year ago.  I left a practice in Monmouth County, New Jersey – the real Jersey Shore! – where I had been affiliated with another infertility practice. I had a different focus there, spending almost as much time in the operating room performing robotic and laparoscopic surgery as I did in the IVF center. But things just “clicked” the second I arrived in Frederick, where I now see patients.  I am grateful every day that I have truly found passion in my career, and I am honored and inspired every day to be part of the Shady Grove family.

Why did you become a doctor? My father is a pediatrician and the practice of medicine was always in our home. He works very hard, and growing up I always heard him on the phone with patients. He served as a role model when becoming an adult. So my connection to medicine is very connected to my family life at home.

Who inspires you? I am inspired by my patients’ strength. I am inspired by my kids’ thirst for knowledge, love and experience. I am inspired by my medical school classmates. I am regularly amazed at how diverse they are and how much they have accomplished. I am inspired by the nursing staff at Shady Grove Fertility who are on the front line of patient care and are always working for perfection.

I am inspired by my best friend, a lawyer on Capitol Hill.   He is full of energy and enthusiasm and always looking for the next meaningful life experience.  I think he is acutely aware that we only live once and that we need to make the most of every single day.

What’s on your bucket list? I want to lie on a beach in Tahiti, dive on the Great Barrier Reef and go on Safari in Africa.

What are your hobbies? I enjoy woodworking, yoga, and spinning.

What about you would most surprise people? I come from a big family; I am the oldest of 6. When my wife and I tried to expand our family we turned to treatment and we now have twins from an injectable cycle. At the time, no one told me there was a 20% risk of twins.  It makes me acutely sensitive to patients that say “I’m okay with twins”.

What about SGF makes you the most proud? I think we do an amazing job at providing quality, evidence-based care, with attention to service and personalized to a patient’s needs.

Abraham K. Munabi, MD
Chesterbrook and Wyomissing, PA

Why did you become a doctor? Becoming a doctor and caring for patients was always a goal of mine. My father was very focused on which professions we were to choose, becoming a doctor I felt was the best fit for me and my personality.  I have a mathematical mind and always play with numbers, review the numbers, and review them again!

Who is on your iPod? I don’t have an iPod, but if I did, it would probably have U2, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and Barbara Streisand.

What’s on your bucket list? I would love to take a Chinese or an Alaskan cruise.
What are your hobbies? I play tennis about 4 times per week and enjoy doing anything that keeps one physically fit.

What about you would most surprise people? I am the youngest of 9 children. I was an Olympic athlete and went to the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Any pearls of wisdom? Always do your best each and every time. You are not competing with anyone else, just yourself and doing it well. Life is an active process.

What about Shady Grove Fertility makes you the most proud? There is an abundance of knowledge at Shady Grove Fertility. The practice is so very committed to patients and their success in building a family. I would have never imagined how many different options could be available to patients.  I am very proud to bring these options to our patients in Pennsylvania.

Joseph Doyle, MD
Rockville, MD

What are you hobbies?  For the mind – reading, sports, and a nice hot sauna.  For the body – triathlons, skiing, gardening, and canoeing (pretty much anything outside).  For the soul – a big dinner party with family, friends, and laughter.

What was your favorite vacation?  Traveling through southern Italy was breathtaking.  It was a perfect combination of history, food, beauty, and life.  You get pulled right into it when you’re there, and together with my wife it was a joy to join right in.

Why did you become a doctor?  When I was growing up, I volunteered as a boy scout at the local hospital and during the summer at a camp for children with diabetes.  It all started with small little roles, but more and more, it left me with a sense of fulfillment and meaning, which I was curious to explore further.  The opportunities to contribute and make a difference in medicine abound.  This naturally led to becoming a physician, and growing through each new step, the feeling of purpose and meaning after a day of work has never left.  Happily, I know with what I do now, it will always stay that way.

What about SGF makes you the most proud?  The way to a happy, healthy family can be confusing, frustrating, and sometimes even frightening, and I am proud of the way we guide our patients through this.  It is a privilege to work with a couple to build a family in the right way for them.  I have seen a number of fertility centers, and I found no comparison to Shady Grove Fertility.  I couldn’t wait to join – I am proud to work here every day, and know I am offering the very best that there is to my patients.  Making important contributions to my patients and the field is very important to me.  I truly believe there isn’t a better place I could do this than Shady Grove.

What’s on your bucket list?  Running the Marine Corps Marathon is next!

Kimberly S. Moon, MD
Washington, DC – K St.

Why did you become a doctor? I have always been science-minded.  It was my favorite subject in school growing up.  Once I decided to go to medical school, I knew immediately that I wanted to work with women’s health issues and that becoming an OB/GYN was the right fit for me.  I decided to sub-specialize in reproductive endocrinology because I believe it is the most rewarding area in our field.  I love the complexity of the endocrine system and working with patients to help them have families.

Who inspired you?  My mother is my inspiration; she makes everyone feel like they are special.  Growing up, our house was the house where all the kids in the neighborhood hung out.  My mom would take anyone in for a meal or for the holidays when I came home from school.  She is accepting, loving, and interested in learning more about people.

What’s on your bucket list?  I would like to sail around the world with my husband.

Who’s on your iPod?  Alice Russell, Quantic Soul, Stereolab, Bittersweet, Koop

What are your hobbies?  Racing sailboats, traveling, yoga

What about you would most surprise people?  One summer I packed a backpack, bought a plane ticket to Lima, Peru and traveled for 8 weeks by myself through South America.

Any pearls of wisdom?  There are many ways to have a family.  If that is your goal it will happen.

What about Shady Grove Fertility makes you most proud? The number of people that we’ve helped achieve their goals of parenthood.  There is also a great sense of camaraderie amongst the physicians and staff.  I always feel like I have someone to bounce ideas off of, to support me with complicated medical issues, and to help me when things get busy.
